The first block train as a link of multimodal shipment en route Duisburg – Rotterdam – Riga – Posin – Iletsk 1 – Dostyk/Alashankou – Kashgar station has been dispatched today from Riga. The train is consisted of 52 40-foot containers loaded with textile industry equipment. Depending on customs formalities the train will be en route from 12 to 14 days considering that the total length of the route is 7 400 km. 

PJSC TranContainer owned containers were released at depots in Duisburg and Dusseldorf then the cargo was barged to Rotterdam and after that forwarded to Riga using a short-sea service.

Overseas transportation and forwarding services in Riga were provided by GEFCO Baltic. PJSC TransContainer is providing rail transportation from Riga to Kashgar station.

Multimodality of the service, high speed of delivery and cargo safety along with optimal cost allowed to make this new route attractive for clients. The dispatch of the second train is scheduled on May 16, 2017.

Realization of this project has become possible by the aid of close cooperation with railway administrations of Latvia, Kazakhstan and China.
