TransContainer presented the new Intelligent Container Terminal information system
On November 2, at the Kleshchikha station (terminal of PJSC TransContainer) in Novosibirsk, a presentation of the new Intelligent Container Terminal information system (hereinafter referred to as the “ICT”) was held. This system is focused on the optimization and automation of container rehandling processes.
The introduction of this technology is important for PJSC TransContainer, as the new system will increase the efficiency of business processes, primarily by reducing the role of the human factor and the reliability of information support. Secondly, this system will create reserves for the processing capacity of the terminal in the context of growing volumes, increase the level of efficiency and quality of managerial decision-making and, as a result, improve the quality of service, which will strengthen the positive image of the Company.
The ICT is a single information space for customers and executors of technological processes represented by the Company’s employees, co-contractors and contractors; this means customer access to the system through a web portal with active functionality; this allows automation of processes when working with cars on freight fronts and vehicles at checkpoints; this allows “on-line” positioning of containers at the terminal sites; this means monitoring the elements of the system by technical means of video recording and video surveillance.
The functionality of the system is to manage the operation of container sites with automated planning of loading and unloading operations based on monitoring of rolling stock arrivals, operational information on the positioning and condition of containers and cars, customer orders and changes in their statuses, the deployment of vehicles and lifting equipment.
The Intelligent Container Terminal, as a new generation of terminal activity management system, makes it possible to reduce the role of the human factor in performing technological operations and the reliability of information support, increase the level of efficiency and quality of managerial decision-making, as well as the rationality of using carriage and container fleets, terminal equipment and human resources, and optimize terminal costs accordingly.
The use of the ICT will make it possible to reduce the downtime of a car under cargo operations by 0.1 days, reduce the turnover of a car by 0.1 days, reduce the downtime of a container by 2 days, reduce the turnover of a container by 0.2 days, and minimize unproductive runs during the production of cargo unloading operations at the site, which, in turn, will lead to a reduction in the consumption of electricity, fuel, costs of maintaining the oil and gas industry and the cost of repairing the container site.
The implementation of the Intelligent Container Terminal system is another step of PJSC TransContainer towards improving the efficiency of container traffic at the current level.
