A container train with raw materials for a local enterprise arrived from Kaliningrad from China

On October 28, a container train with rolled steel for a local processing enterprise arrived in Kaliningrad from the seaport of Pervomaisky (Vladivostok).

The volume of cargo delivered was 96 twenty-foot containers (96 TEUs), the total travel time was 13 days.

A new logistics project for multimodal transportation was developed and implemented by PJSC TransContainer together with the Kaliningradskaya Railway. The cargo was delivered to Vladivostok from the Chinese port of Tianjin by a bulk vessel, and then, as part of a container train, went through the railway network of Russia, Latvia and Lithuania to Kaliningrad.

The project also provides for the return loading of containers with products of Kaliningrad enterprises and their dispatch to consignees in the central regions of Russia.

“The transportation of imported cargo was organized using the equipment and terminal of the Company at the Kaliningrad-Sortirovochny station. The multimodal route was offered to the customer as an alternative to the option of transporting from China via the deep sea, and has the advantage over the traditional route in saving time,” said Dmitry Melnichuk, Director of PJSC TransContainer on the Oktyabrskaya Railway.

Recall that in July of this year, PJSC TransContainer, together with the Kaliningradskaya Railway, implemented a similar project for multimodal delivery by container train of raw materials for the production of polymers at one of the industrial enterprises in the region from the Chinese port of Dalian.
