Pilot train of PJSC TransContainer arrived in Slovakia from China

Loaded block train arrived in Dunajská Streda Slovakia from China. On September 15 the train was dispatched from Xian (Xinzhu station), on September 19 entered the territory of Kazakhstan via Khorgos/Altynkol border-crossing point, crossed the border between Kazakhstan and Russia on September 25 and two days later passed Russian-Ukrainian border to arrive in Slovakia on September 29.

The next day (September 30) the containers were transshipped at Dobra terminal for further dispatch on narrow-gauge wagons to Dunajská Streda, there the cargo (household appliances, clothes, auto parts, etc.) will be distributed to the consignees’ addresses in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria and Germany.

Dispatch of backward train from Budapest to China via Dobra is scheduled for October 7. Thus the set of wagons will be used in a round-trip which makes the route significantly more cost-efficient.

“This is a pilot block train dispatched by PJSC TransContainer by such route from China to Europe via Dobra terminal in Slovakia. Following the results of our further negotiations with Chinese partners we’ll decide on the prospects for making this service regular. Characteristics of the pilot train traffic over the route and our partner’s support have already shown that the parties are highly interested in the service and there is market necessity in such alternative container service,” said Pavel Shanaytsa, Managing Director of TransContainer Europe GmbH.
