The 1000th accelerated container train set off on Brest - Zabaykalsk route

The 1000th accelerated container train with European goods intended for consumers in China departed on November 15 along Brest - Zabaykalsk route. This project, implemented by PJSC TransContainer together with the Belarusian Railway, BTLC state enterprise and RZD JSCo. The train is formed from the rolling stock of PJSC TransContainer, whose operator in the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation is RZD Logistics, in Europe and China - Far East Land Bridge (FELB).

Accelerated container trains have been running along Brest - Zabaykalsk route since October 2011. Currently, frequency of this service is 3-4 trains per week on average. Delivery time from the Polish-Belarusian to the Russian-Chinese border amounts to 7-8 days. By contrast, transportation along this route by single or group container shipments, prior to arrangement of the service, could exceed 20 days.

Seventy-one 40 ft containers are in 1000th train, of which 40 are with auto parts by BMW group arriving to Shenyang Chinese railway station. The remaining containers transport ferrous metal products, equipment, and auto parts.

The pooled service of TransContainer, RZD Logistics and FELB are used by BMW, Volvo, Volkswagen, Daimler-Benz. BMW accounts for about 25% of the total number of departing trains, the rest is made by ferrous metal products, equipment, auto parts, construction goods, household chemicals and other consolidated cargoes are sent to various consignees in the PRC, to different destination stations. It is important that container trains run loaded in both directions of this route.

This container train is not the only joint project of PJSC TransContainer, the Belarusian Railway and the BTLC state enterprise, whose route passes through the Polish-Belarusian border checkpoint on the II transport corridor. During 12 years of operation of the company's representative office in the Republic of Belarus about 1.5 million TEUs have passed through the Brest-Terespol checkpoint in the East-West-East direction. TransContainer was the first to arrange accelerated container trains for transportation of auto parts from Europe to Russia and China, and also initiated, developed and implemented transportation of container trains using a single railway consignment note, with the issuance of one transit declaration for the whole train, which allowed to reduce significantly time for processing container trains at the border checkpoint.
