PJSC TransContainer together with Ruskon LLC and Severo-Kavkazskaya railway organized first speeded-up service on poultry meat delivery in reefer containers

PJSC TransContainer branch at Severo-Kavkazskaya railway launched a new project on transportation of frozen poultry meat in reefer containers over the looped route Novorossiysk – Nevinnomysskaya – Novorossiysk for the Resource Group of Companies.

The first block train consisting of twenty 40-foot Maersk’s reefer container loaded with frozen poultry meat of total 540 tons was dispatched on March 23 from Nevinnomysskaya to Novorossiysk (exp.). Transit time amounted to 11 hours 47 minutes. Further the product will be delivered by sea to the Persian Gulf countries and China.

This service resulted from close cooperation of PJSC TransContainer branch at Severo-Kavkazskaya railway, Ruskon LLC and subdivisions of Severo-Kavkazskaya railway (a branch of JSC Russian Railways) with Resource Group of Companies – the major Russian poultry meat exporter. Before that the product used to be delivered to Novorossiysk port by container trucks and reefer trailers.

First dispatch of cargo was carried out in a thermos mode without reefer containers being connected to a power supply on route. The necessary temperature inside a container was ensured during product loading at the warehouse. Further the trains are supposed to run with containers connected to a power supply.

The key advantages of the new service are reduction of the exporter’s cost on the product delivery to port, absence of weight limit set by the law for motor transportation and possibility to make larger export product consignment in shorter terms for one-time dispatch (earlier it used to take 3-4 days to make an export consignment to be delivered to port by truck, in case of dispatch by a block train, the consignment is made up in 2 days).
Resource Group of Companies is planning to increase the consignment up to 40-45 containers (which will make 1,215 tons) and make the block trains run on this route on a regular basis.
