TransContainer Branch at Severo-Kavkazskaya Railway together with Ruscon dispatched a new block train from Novorossiysk to Rostov-on-Don and back. Test dispatch was organized as a part of a project aimed at widening of business geography of companies.

61 40-foot containers with consumer goods that came to port of Novorossiysk by sea were dispatched as a block train from Ruscon port terminal on March 27, 2020 and arrived at terminal of TransContainer in Rostov-on-Don 12 hours later.

The new service opens opportunity for importers to transport their goods on a regular basis using fixed schedule and price. The price is determined for a long-time period, importers can send up to 108 containers in a single dispatch. This service is especially topical for transportation of heavy containers since for transportations by rail there are no weight restrictions established by law unlike for trucking. Customers can also order last mile service from Rostov-on-Don station to consignees situated in the city and nearby.  As for backward direction containers will be loaded with cargoes of local producers destined for export. Block trains are scheduled on a weekly basis.

The service is a brand new logistics product which is competitive with road transportations regarding transit time and costs.
