TransContainer and RZD Logistics ensure number of dispatches of medical devices from China to Russia for combating COVID-19
PJSC TransContainer and JSC RZD Logistics will carry out a number of dispatches of medical devices from China to Russia for combating COVID-19. The shipment was approved by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation in the course of operations carried out for purchase of the most demanded items of individual protection means in the People’s Republic of China.
The first consignment of medical face masks was dispatched on April 19, 2020 in 14 forty-foot containers on the route Shanghai – Zabaikalsk – Ekaterinburg. The containers will run over the territory of the Russian Federation as part of a regular train organized by PJSC TransContainer from Zabaikalsk to Vorsino. In order to reduce cargo delivery time and maintain high speed of transportation several containers loaded with medical face masks will be detached from the train in Ekaterinburg without disturbing its integrity.
In Ekaterinburg the cargo will be cleared, and the masks will be distributed to health facilities of Ural and neighboring regions.
“We promptly develop the fastest transportation routes for the needs of health facilities in Russia. This consignment is a test one, together with RZD Logistics we are planning to organize a larger-scale transportation of medical face masks from China in the near future,” President of PJSC TransContainer Alexander Isurin said.
“This is the first stage of a major logistics project carried out by RZD Logistics as agreed with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. We explore delivery of not only masks but also protective suits for doctors as well as special fabric for making-up masks and suits. Dispatches will be organized from different Chinese cities where respective manufacturing enterprises are located to the Russian cities in need of such goods. By now these are cities of Moscow, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk and Krasnoyarsk. Every day we communicate with all the manufacturing companies directly, and we engaged our best managers in handling the issue being conscious of these products importance during the pandemic,” CEO of JSC RZD Logistics Dmitry Murev noted.
