TransContainer Launches Regular Service from Saint Petersburg to Perm

TransContainer launched a brand new regular block train service from Saint Petersburg to Perm. The service will help to reduce transit time to one of the largest industrial and logistics hubs in the Urals to 3 days. Despatches are planned to become regular: 2 or 3 times a month. It should be noted that the Company also has a backward service from Perm to Saint Petersburg. This service is highly demanded among freight owners in the region.

The transportation was organized by TransContainer Branch at Oktyabrskaya Railway from Shushary station to Blochnaya station at Sverdlovskaya Railway. The service became another option among existing routes to Ekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, Krasnoyarsk, Khabarovsk, Vladivostok and Nakhodka.

“This is the 230th train dispatched from Logistika-Terminal JSC in 2020, solely in the framework of TransContainer’s public services. Moreover a large number of export cargoes are handled at the terminal, block trains with empty containers are dispatched to large manufacturing enterprises where they are loaded with export cargoes. In total 450 trains have departed from the terminal in 2020.

After 6 months of 2020 Logistika Terminal has handled more than 83 thousand TEU which is 14% more than in 2019. We continue to develop our train services, attract new cargoes using our service advantages, first of all it is short transit time and transportation costs which are competitive in compare with other modes of transportation,” - said Dmitry Melnichuk, director of TransContainer Branch at Oktyabrskaya Railway and director general of Logistika Terminal JSC.
