TransContainer Launches New Service of Solid Bitumen Transportation
PJSC TransContainer of Delo Group has launched a new service of solid grade bitumen transportation thus enlarging the nomenclature of transported cargo. On January 28 a
120-TEU block train was dispatched from Chernikovka station (Ufa city) to Chengdu station (China) via Zabaikalsk inland border-crossing point. The train will run across the Russian territory in 9 days.
Earlier solid bitumen was transported in covered wagons but since there is no need to transship the cargo into railway rolling stock of other gauge or a truck and thanks to absence of respective additional financial and time expenditures, the container service proved to be more competitive.
One of the key moments was the Chinese railways’ approval of the bitumen transportation over the Chinese territory which was accompanied by a number of expert examinations aimed at confirmation of the cargo transportation safety.
Taking into account the great interest of the Chinese buyers, regular trains will be dispatched over this route on a monthly basis, the frequency of dispatches be increased up to at least two dispatches a month.
