JSC TransContainer and GEFCO launched a new joint project

General Director of JSC TransContainer Petr Baskakov and Yves Farge, CEO of GEFCO GROUP, at a press conference organized during the SITL Europe international exhibition from March 23 to 26 in Paris, discussed the successful launch of a joint project for the transportation of car parts of PSA Peugeot Citroen concern”.

The first container train within the framework of cooperation between the two companies arrived at the Vorotynsk station (Kaluga Region) on March 10, 2010, delivering to the assembly plant of PSMA-Rus (a joint venture of PSA Peugeot- Citroёn and Mitsubishi Automotive 36 40-foot HC (High Cube) containers with car parts from the PSA Peugeot Citroen concern.
To date, four block trains have arrived at the plant. The cargo departs from the Naviland cargo terminal, located near the PSA Peugeot Citroën plant in Vesoul (France), goes to the Polish-Belarusian border Malaszewicz-Brest, where containers are transshipped onto the flat cars of OJSC TransContainer, and goes to the station Vorotynsk in the Kaluga region.
Distance of 3 thousand km takes five days. To achieve the maximum reduction in transit time for this transportation, the train schedule developed by JSCo RZD in conjunction with the Belarusian Railways and GEFCO is applied.

“The success of the project lies in an innovative approach to its implementation and close cooperation of three companies – JSC TransContainer, GEFCO GROUP and French Railways (SNCF). The project is very significant and large-scale, has stable volumes, therefore the best partners have been selected for its implementation. It is a great honor for us to work with Russia, in particular, with OJSC TransContainer, which is fully and efficiently responsible for the service and its part of the project,” commented the launch of the joint project Yves Farge, CEO of GEFCO GROUP, at a press conference in Paris.

In the summer of 2009, JSC TransContainer and GEFCO LLC signed a Memorandum of Intent on a joint project for the transportation of car components. According to the signed document, JSC TransContainer will provide reliable services to GEFCO LLC for the implementation of the project.
