JSC TransContainer creates a subsidiary in Korea

The opening ceremony of TransContainer Asia Pacific Ltd. – a subsidiary of OJSC TransContainer was held on September 1, 2010 in Seoul.

This event was made possible thanks to the consistent implementation of the strategic plans of the company to increase the volume of international container traffic by expanding the business geography, developing new routes and increasing the presence in the transport logistics markets of the Asian-Pacific Region.
TransContainer Asia Pacific Ltd. will offer comprehensive logistics solutions for organizing the delivery of containerized cargo from the Republic of Korea to the regions of Russia, as well as countries of Eastern and Western Europe.

“The Russian market is of great interest in terms of developing the business of South Korean companies, whose capital investments in the domestic economy are estimated at billions of dollars. Building mutually beneficial cooperation in various sectors of the economy, implementing large joint projects is impossible without stable and inexpensive transport connection,” said Petr Baskakov, General Director of JSC TransContainer, at the opening procedure.

He also recalled that the existing traditional schemes for the delivery of goods from the Republic of Korea to the central regions of Russia are associated with significant time and financial costs. Most cargo owners use sea transport to deliver goods from Korea to European ports, from where they then travel by road to consignees in Russia.

“The creation of subsidiary TransContainer Asia Pacific Ltd. will give a new impetus to the development of the route for the delivery of container cargo from the ports of the Republic of Korea by sea to the Far Eastern ports of Russia. Further – by rail into the interior of Russia. Cargo delivery time is reduced by 20-25 days compared with traditional sea transport. In addition, there is no need to attract international road carriers. Our route is also financially attractive for cargo owners,” said Petr Baskakov.
