PJSC TransContainer and the Government of the Kaliningrad Region will establish a transport and logistics complex in the region

PJSC TransContainer and the Government of the Kaliningrad region signed a cooperation agreement on the margins of St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF)-2019 within the framework of the project for the construction of a transport and logistics center (TLC) in the Chernyakhovsk industrial park.

The TLC in Chernyakhovsk is designed for transshipment of transit containers from the Russian standard gauge (1520 mm) to the European standard (1435 mm) and vice versa. The handling capacity of a TLC should be at least 500,000 TEU (equivalent to a twenty-foot container).

"Transit transportation sector in recent years has been the most dynamic segment of the container railway transportation market. The growth of transportation calls on the development of border infrastructure and container terminals. In this regard, PJSC TransContainer considers the TLC in Chernyakhivsk as part of the infrastructure that will ensure growing volumes of transit," said Vyacheslav Sarayev after the signing.

"Railway transit is one of the most important and promising development areas for the region's transport complex. This is certified by the successful experience of container train freight transportation from Europe via Chernyakhovsk in Kaliningrad region to China. We are glad that the largest Russian intermodal container operator is joining this work as our official partner," Anton Alikhanov said in his turn.
