angle-left null The thousandth container train of JSC TransContainer and Schenker arrived at the Volkswagen plant in Kaluga

On December 13, 2010, in Kaluga, at the terminal of the Volkswagen car assembly plant, a solemn meeting of the jubilee thousandth container train with components for assembling Volkswagen and Skoda cars took place, formed by JSC TransContainer together with DB Schenker Rail Deutschland AG MB Automotive.

For 3 years now, JSC TransContainer and DB Schenker Rail Deutschland AG MB Automotive have been the general logistics partners of the Volkswagen Group Rus concern. To date, the project is a well-organized process for the delivery of car parts from European supplier plants of the car concern to the plant of Volkswagen Group Rus in Kaluga.

Within this project, JSC TransContainer provides a full range of freight forwarding services for the delivery of parts and car parts along the 1,520 mm gauge (route Brest-Kaluga) using its own equipment. The German partner provides the customer with the same services throughout the EU.

With the development of the project, the geography of transportation expanded. Today, shipments are made from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Hungary and Poland.

For the entire duration of the project on the Brest-Kaluga route, 137,730 TEUs were transported on the cars of JSC TransContainer. As of November 30, 2010, this volume amounted to 56,810 TEUs, which is 82% more compared to the same period last year.

The arrival of the thousandth train with Volkswagen Group Rus car components is an important event for OJSC TransContainer, marking the successful development of the company’s relations with German partners and customers.
