PJSC TransContainer together with its partners launches new China-Austria service

PJSC TransContainer is implementing freight forwarding product of cargo container transportation from China to Austria. The project partners are Chengdu International Railway Port Group, DHL Global Forwarding, CMA CGM and Rail Cargo Group.

First train was dispatched from Chengdu on April 12, 2018. It consisted of 40- and 20-foot containers loaded with consumer goods of 82-TEU volume. The train passed 9 800-kilometer route in 15 days.

Ceremonial arrival of train took place at ÖBB-Güterzentrum Wien Süd terminal on April 27, 2018. President of Austria Alexander Van der Bellen, ÖBB-Holding AG CEO Andreas Matthä, General Director of Rail Cargo Group Thomas Kargl and Sales and Business Development Director of PJSC TransContainer Alexander Podylov attended the event.

“By all means this is a festal occasion, since new Chengdu-Vienna route widens the geographical cover of One Belt One Road Initiative and Austria has joined this great project. We are going to arrange trains between China and Austria on a regular basis and expect Austria’s neighbouring countries will support the initiative as well. PJSC TransContainer’s terminal in Dobra (Slovakia) carrying out containers transshipment from wide (1520) onto narrow (1435) gauge will promote further integration of the countries of the region into the international network of cargo container delivery by railway over the Eurasian continent. Our customers have already shown profound interest in new logistics product therefore we are optimistic about development of this route” emphasized Alexander Podylov.
