TransContainer Arranged First Container Shipment from China to Russia via Solovyevsk

PJSC TransContainer of Delo Group together with JSC Russian Railways (RZD) and JSC Ulaanbaatar Railways (UBTZ) have organized the first railway shipment of containers from China to Russia via Solovyevsk border-crossing point (Zabaikalsky Krai) on the Russian-Mongolian border. To date, this border-crossing point has never been used for railway container transportation.

Two large-capacity containers were used in the test transportation from Bayantumen station in the east of Mongolia, from where the cargo will go via Ereentsav /Solovyevsk border-crossing point to TransContainer's terminal in Saint Petersburg (Shushary).

Within the framework of this shipment TransContainer provided a set of services such as rolling stock provision, transit customs clearance, cargo receipt, and its delivery to the customer at destination point. In their turn, RZD and UBTZ arranged for overall coordination as railway administrations.

"Asian direction is becoming more and more popular with our customers, and we are striving to expand opportunities for transportation along the corridors never used before. Cooperation with RZD and UBTZ has made it possible to successfully arrange for fast cargo transportation via Solovyevsk. In the future, we expect to launch a regular commercial service on this route, which is new for the Russian container market," said Vladimir Khlutkov, Asia-Pacific Business Development Director of TransContainer.
