OJSC TransContainer for the first time began shipping in specialized containers of the open-top type to the Far East.
On September 30, 2010two 20-foot open-top containers owned by the Company were shipped with a load of equipment for municipal needs manufactured by the Saratov Power Engineering Plant SARENERGOMASH OJSC from the Trofimovsky-2 station of the Privolzhskaya Railway to the Far East.
According to Mikhail Pokhaznikov, deputy director of SARENERGOMASH OJSC, “these containers are very convenient for loading and unloading, which reduces the time and cost of transporting heavy cargo.”

Recall that specialized open-top containers are manufactured at the branch of JSC TransContainer – Shakhunya Container Repair Depot of the Gorkovskaya Railway. Containers of this type do not have a rigid roof, which is replaced by a sliding or removable cover made of tarpaulin, plastic, or reinforced plastic material. The cover is usually supported by hinged or removable roof beams. Using open-top allows transporting goods, the loading of which in ordinary containers involves the use of expensive handling equipment or tooling. While open-top can be loaded using the equipment for loading gondola cars. In world practice, open-top is used to transport pipes, equipment, some types of bulk cargo and goods packed in big bags. In other words, they can transport goods that do not require special measures of protection from atmospheric precipitation.

The expansion of the specialized container fleet allows JSC TransContainer to offer its customers a more complete range of services in organizing multimodal container traffic within Russia and to foreign countries.
