TransContainer Will Transport Goods from Asian Countries for Magnit Multistore
PJSC TransContainer of Delo Group and Magnit Retail Chain have agreed to cooperate in organizing the goods delivery from China and Southeast Asia for sale at the retailer's stores.
The respective document was signed by Victor Markov, First Vice-President of TransContainer, and Fedor Pavlovsky, Chief Supply Chain and Logistics Officer of Magnit Retail Chain, within the framework of St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
According to the agreements, TransContainer will develop new logistics solutions for import cargo transportation in containers, taking into account the geography of Magnit's imports. Synergy of the companies’ expertise will allow the retail chain to increase the efficiency of its own distribution, improve the service level and investigate alternative markets for import products from China and other Asian countries.
So far, the first shipment of non-food products from China to Russia via Vostochny port has already been launched as part of cooperation between Magnit and TransContainer. This will allow the companies to assess the economic effect of joint activities and test operational processes.
“We are interested in expanding cooperation with such a major partner as "Magnit" and we are glad to be able to provide uninterrupted and smooth transportation of goods for the customers of the retail chain both on the basis of existing transportation solutions and new ones. Additional import volumes will allow us to improve the efficiency of our equipment use and will have a positive effect on the export-import balance in terms of continued market turbulence,” noted Victor Markov.
“We are the largest retailer of the country, that is why it is important for us to provide consumers with quality products on a daily basis. The current situation requires us to transform part of our logistics chains, so together with our partners we are developing new transportation solutions. "TransContainer" is the leader in container railway logistics in Eurasia, a strong player in the field of transportation in traffic with China and the Far East, and I believe that consolidation of our experience and resources will let us achieve a win-win effect for us and our customers,” said Fedor Pavlovsky.
