TransContainer and Agency for Investment Development of Permskiy Krai will Cooperate in Reconstruction of Terminal at Blochnaya Station

TransContainer of Delo Group and Agency for Investment Development of Permskiy Krai have agreed to cooperate in reconstruction and expansion of the container terminal at Blochnaya station (Perm). The respective agreement was signed at Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) by Victor Markov, Director of TransContainer and Yana Furman, General Director of the Agency, in the presence of Dmitry Makhonin, Governor of Permskiy Krai, and Sergey Shishkarev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of TransContainer.

TransContainer initiated the investment project for the terminal reconstruction. The total volume of investments will be about 430 million rubles, the project will be implemented before 2025. It is planned that after the project implementation the terminal capacity will increase more than twice - from 45 to 110 thousand TEUs. Within the framework of the reconstruction, it is planned to expand the capacity of container storage areas at the terminal and increase the technological efficiency of loading and unloading operations by speeding-up rail freight zones processing. Moreover, the project will improve working environment for the terminal's employees through organizing workplaces at the newly built administration and household building.

The task of the Agency for Investment Development of Permskiy Krai is to provide administrative support for the project and create favorable conditions for its implementation; the regional authorities will also provide TransContainer with an opportunity to use an investment tax deduction, one of the main tools for supporting investors in the region.

“Our own terminal at Blochnaya Station is currently a key terminal for Permskiy Krai; its reconstruction corresponds to the company's strategy to develop its own capacities in key locations. Implementation of this large-scale project will increase trade turnover between the Russian regions, as well as increase the export-import potential of Permskiy Krai,” said Viktor Markov.

“In the sphere of development of logistics infrastructure facilities, the project of Blochnaya station modernization is extremely important for Kama region. Supporting logistic activities in Permskiy Krai ensures a significant cost reduction for regional companies. Modern logistics complexes are a real step towards increasing the competitiveness of our goods and successful functioning of the regional economic system,” noted Yana Furman.

“Cooperation of the region with such a large company as TransContainer will make it possible to approach the creation of Blochnaya transport and logistics center (TLC) in Kama region. Under the agreements with TransContainer and the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, Blochnaya TLC will also be included into the departmental project of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation “Formation of the Transport and Logistics Centers Network”. Thus, Perm may become one of the hubs of the basic network of multimodal freight transport and logistics centers located in the centers of economic growth, which provide for the development of transport corridors in Russia, said Dmitry Makhonin.

Blochnaya container terminal in Perm handles almost all container traffic entering Permskiy Krai by railway and serves major producers of the timber and the chemical complexes of the region. As of today, its area is 2.8 hectares, the capacity of the yards is about 1.2 thousand TEUs
