TransContainer staff learns how to handle bulk cargo in specialized containers in compliance with ISOPA standards

At the Moscow Railway’s Kuntsevo-2 station on August 25, 2009, a seminar was held to instruct TransContainer staff how to handle non-dangerous freight arriving in tank containers at the Company’s container terminals.

The seminar, conducted by specialists of DB Schenker BTT for TransContainer staff, dealt with the procedures and rules for handling non-dangerous chemical bulk cargo in accordance with the standards laid down by ISOPA (European Association of Manufacturers of Diisocyanates and Polyols). The attendees subsequently received the relevant certification.

Until recently, TransContainer provided transport and forwarding services for the carriage of goods mostly in multipurpose containers. Once its staff got certification for ISOPA standards, TransContainer will be able to offer clients a qualitatively higher level of service, and embark on the transportation of bulk cargo in specialized containers on a door-to-door basis.

Today, TransContainer, a subsidiary of Russian Railways, and DB Schenker BTT, which engages in transportation and logistics in the DB Group, are paying special attention to the development container transport between Russia and Germany. One result of their joint work has been the seminar that will enable TransContainer to broaden its range of services and create the prerequisites for luring chemical goods to railway transport.
