TransContainer Will Transport Cargo for Amurstal Plant by Block Trains

PJSC TransContainer of Delo Group and Amurstal LLC, the largest metallurgical plan in the Russian Far East, have agreed to cooperate in arranging container transportation of scrap metal for its further recycling. Previously, such transportation was carried out by single shipments.

Nikita Pushkarev, Sales and Customer Service Director of PJSC TransContainer, and Anton Shulev, Deputy General Director for Logistics of Amurstal LLC, signed the relevant memorandum of cooperation within the framework of the international exhibition TransRussia 2022.

According to the document, TransContainer will provide comprehensive logistics support for block trains transportation, including route development and provision of its own fleet of platforms and containers. Transportation will be carried out from Chita-1 and Taltsy stations of Zabaikalskaya and Vostochno-Sibirskaya Railways, where most of the required cargo is concentrated, to Komsomolsk-on-Amur station of Dalnevostochnaya Railway, from where the platforms will be sent to plant tracks for unloading. Empty containers will be dispatched backwards as part of block trains. To date, the monthly volume of shipments for the needs of the plant is about 600-800 containers with the prospect for increasing.

“Within the framework of development of our cooperation with the largest metallurgical enterprise in the Russian Far East, we are ready to arrange high-quality logistics services and provide our own equipment. Our competence and experience will allow us to provide the raw materials necessary for the production promptly and efficiently. Cargo transportation by block trains will speed up the delivery and reduce the pressure on marshalling yards along the route, which is a key factor in the context of high workload of the Eastern polygon,” said Nikita Pushkarev.

“While starting this project, we do not only address our enterprise’s need for strategic raw materials, but also consider the performance efficiency of our partners: TransContainer and Russian Railways. By implementing it, we take the first step towards organization of regular services for scrap transportation, previously associated with single shipments only. I am sure that this is just the beginning of cooperation development and operating technologies improvement,” noted Anton Shulev.
