Logistika-Terminal boosts transshipment

As a result of the first quarter 2020 transshipment volume at Multifunctional Logistics Complex Logistika-Terminal has grown up sufficiently. 41.9 thousand TEU has been transshipped on and off rail which is 18 percent more than during the same period of the previous year. Total transshipment at the terminal - 97.9 thousand TEU with 8 percent growth in compare with the previous year.

Volume growth has been achieved due to development of block train services destined to big city agglomerations in Russia and increase of transshipment of foreign-trade cargoes at the terminal. Among other factors export cargoes are now  admitted at the terminal for storage, shipment forming, loading in containers and forwarding to ports. A sufficient part of such cargoes are moved inside Saint Petersburg railway district by block trains. This technology reduces workload of road network in Saint Petersburg.

Infrastructure modernization also resulted in transshipment volume growth. In December 2019 works on extension of railcar processing front have been finished, operation of a new railway section and container handling area has started. After modernization the terminal is capable to handle with a full-length train consisted of 71 conventional wagons and no additional maneuver are required any longer.
