TransContainer opens a new container train Lesosibirsk - Alexandria

TransContainer put into operation its first express container train following the route Lesosibirsk (Russian, the Krasnoyarsky Region)-Alexandria (Egypt) via the Rostov port. The train consists of 35 freight cars loaded with 40-foot containers carrying 120 TEU of timber. The consigner is Novoeniseysky Lesokhimichesky JSC Complex.

According to Vladimir Dratchev, deputy general director of JSC TransContainer, it takes 15 days to deliver timber to Alexandria, with 6 days spent for rail transportation, 7 days for carriage by water and 1 day for container transshipment and paperwork formalities in each port (Rostov and Alexandria respectively).

“We shall provide to Novoeniseysky Lesokhimichesky JSC Complex a full range of container transportation services for delivery of their timber from the Krasnoyarky Region to Egypt. This method of transportation substantially increases delivery speed and cargo safety. JSC TransContainer is the only operator accompanying the cargo along the whole route and it takes one railway bill of lading to cover all the documentary formalities, said Vladimir Drachev at the train launch ceremony.

He added that the company was ready to offer the same set of transportation and forwarding services to all the timber-processing companies of the region. Today JSC TransContainer branch at the Krasnoyarsk Railways is the region’s leader in the field of railway container transport providing a full range of freight forwarding and logistics services.

“Today our branch and the leading consigners of the region reached an agreement on container shipment of timber to Alexandria, where demand for this type of product remains stable. There are plans to ship between 3,000 and 5,000 m3 of timber to Alexandria every month, which makes one hundred and fifty 40-foot containers (300 TEU) per each consigner”, says Vladimir Dratchev.
