JSC TransContainer launched a temporary storage warehouse on the premises of the container terminal of the Zabaikalsk freight station. This allowed the company to introduce customs clearance services at the terminal.

“We used to simply transship containers from the narrow to broad railway gauge and back. For example, to deliver cargo from Taiwan to Russia it took about two months to send the containers first to China by sea, then to Japan and then to the closest customs agent in Nakhodka and only there have all the required documents ready for further shipment to Russia. Now cargoes can go through the customs clearance right at our terminal saving the customers’ time and expanding our capabilities”, said Igor Filipiev, CEO of Zabaikalsk affiliate of JSC TransContainer.

It takes very little time to clear the cargo. The customer does not have to arrive in Zabaikaklsk. He receives his cargo at the destination, while the customs broker handles the clearance procedure.

The new temporary storage warehouse is equipped with a shed, a parking lot, container area admitting 230 40-foot containers and a special facility to store the detained cargo.
