JSC TransContainer continues to develop multimodal transportation using end-to-end services to Europe

JSC TransContainer takes part in the 14th Annual International Russian Russian Automotive Forum, which takes place in Moscow from March 15-17. At the conference, the company presented its service for the transportation of car parts, including through the terminal in Dobra.

In 2010, JSC TransContainer focused its efforts on the development of European container traffic and began to implement several important projects using the International Transport Corridor No. 5.

In May 2010, for the first time, the company began to transport FIAT car parts from Italy to Russia through the Dobra terminal without using sea transport. Previously, these transportations were carried out through the port of Novorossiysk, and then followed by rail to Yelabuga (Tatarstan).

The new railway route allowed us to reduce the transit time of this transportation by three times, as well as provide the customer with high-quality service of JSC TransContainer and the participating railway companies of Italy, Austria, Slovakia, Ukraine and Russia.

The use of its own terminal in Dobra allows the company to control the quality of services at the most difficult part of the work – reloading containers from European gauge cars to Russian standard gauge cars.

Other projects of JSC TransContainer are transportation from Europe for the Volkswagen and Peugeot Citroen car assembly plants in the Kaluga Region. Transportation of car parts for the Peugeot Citroen concern has been carried out since March 2010 as part of a joint project with GEFCO Group.

For Information:

In November 2008, in order to simplify cargo operations at the junction of European and Russian gauge railways, JSC TransContainer entered into an agreement on long-term lease of the Dobra terminal with railway company Železničná spoločnosť Cargo Slovakia, a. s. In accordance with plans of JSC TransContainer for the development of container traffic along International Transport Corridor No. 5 (Italy-Slovenia-Hungary-Slovakia-Ukraine-Russia), the Dobra terminal is important because it is located along the route of this transport corridor. The terminal is located at 10 km from the border with Ukraine, between the railway stations Pribenik and Čierna nad Tisou. The total area of the terminal is 18 hectares.
