On 25 October 2012, a ceremony took place to present the 7th National Award “Director of the Year.” The ceremony announced the rankings of the best professionals in corporate governance and named the winners and awardees.

In 2012, the organizers assigned the following rankings as part of the award for the first time:

• 50 best Independent Directors;
• 25 best Сhairmen of Boards of Directors;
• 25 best Directors for Corporate Governance/ Corporate Secretaries.

Independent members of the Board of Directors of JSC TransContainer David Hexter and Irina Shytkina, Chairman of the Company’s Board of Directors Pavel Ilyichev and Director for Corporate Governance Olga Miller were recognized among the best independent directors, chairmen of boards of directors, and corporate secretaries respectively.

The National Award “Director of the year” has been conducted since 2006. The award’s organizers are the Independent Directors Association and the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs in cooperation with PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Alexander Ikonnikov, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Independent Directors Association, pointed out a special meaning of the professional rankings in corporate governance. He said, “They are the ones whose contribution has a substantial impact on increasing the quality of corporate governance in Russia and raising its value.”
