TransContainer and Inner Mongolia Foreign Trade Development Will Study Cooperation Prospects for Erlian Transport Hub Development

PJSC TransContainer (part of Delo Group) and the Chinese company Inner Mongolia Foreign Trade Development Co., Ltd (IMFT, established to support projects on the Inner Mongolia’s economic potential expansion) have expressed their interest in increasing the carrying capacity of the Zamyn-Uud (Mongolia) - Erlian (China) railway section to increase the volume of transportation in traffic China - Mongolia - Russia - Europe.

The parties stated the corresponding intension in the agreement signed by Ivan Besedin, Advisor to the President of TransContainer, and Li Jinsong, Chairman of the Board of IMFT, on the margins of the International Exhibition Innoprom-2023.

The agreement also provides for the arrangement of new services and efficiency enhancement of existing regular services within this corridor.

“Development of the Erlian transport hub requires large-scale investments. Their implementation will allow to ensure the growth of cargo flows between China, Russia and European countries. TransContainer is ready to consider cooperation options in this area. We believe that mutually beneficial partnership with IMFT will open new opportunities for our company’s customers”, - said Ivan Besedin.

Zamyn-Uud – Erlian is one of the key border-crossing points ensuring transportation between Russia and China. This transport hub is also a container transshipment point (the gauge in Mongolia, as well as in Russia, is 1520 mm, while in China it is 1435 mm).
