Solar electro stations will be assembled at TransContainer’s container terminals rooftops

PJSC TransContainer (part of Delo Group) and Unigreen Energy LLC - Russia’s largest private company in the renewable energy sector will jointly develop use of solar energy at railway facilities.

The relevant agreement has been signed at International forum and exhibition Transport of Russia 2023 by Andrei Banshchikov, chief engineer of TransContainer, and Oleg Shutkin, deputy CEO of Unigreen Energy. The agreement will be effective for three years.
Cooperation is aimed at increasing the share of electricity consumed from renewable energy sources at TransContainer’s container terminals. The parties will jointly elaborate technical requirements and solutions for implementation of solar energy facilities and explore prospects for international cooperation.

“One of the priorities of TransContainer’s ecological policy is increasing the share of electricity consumed from renewable energy sources. The company is already actively implementing projects to reduce its carbon footprint: due to all compensational undertakings implemented by Delo Group indirect greenhouse gas emissions in 2022 reduced by 85%. This October the Group purchased 10,000 green renewable energy certificates at Sber platform (purchaser is TransContainer), and at the end of last year solar collectors were modernized as part of the reconstruction of container terminal in Zabaikalsk. We expect that cooperation with Unigreen Energy will allow us to equip other terminals with renewable energy sources”, Andrei Banshchikov said.

Rooftop solar power plants is the optimal energy-saving solution for logistics terminals. We welcome strategic steps that not only reduce energy consumption and environmental impact, but are also cost-effective for our partners”, said Oleg Shutkin,”payback period of such projects is 5-6 years and warranty period of solar modules is 25 years. At the same time, the solar installation requires no special maintenance and the savings start as soon as it is turned on”.
