TransContainer Develops Export of Timber via North-West Ports and North-South ITC

PJSC TransContainer (part of Delo Group) develops export transportation of timber to China via alternative routes to the Eastern range of Russian Railways.

In particular, at the end of 10 months more than 3.8 thousand TEUs of products of ULK Group and Luzales enterprise were transported through the ports of St. Petersburg and further by sea to the ports of China. The cargo was dispatched by 30 trains from the stations Kostylevo (Arkhangelsk region) and Chovyu (Komi Republic).

In addition, transportation of Luzales products was organized from Chovyu station to Erbil (Iraq) via the western branch of the North-South international transport corridor (ITC). The cargoes traveled through Azerbaijan and Iran. According to the results of January-October period, 5 block trains (600 TEUs) were dispatched along this route. At the destination point TransContainer carries out delivery by truck to the consignee’s warehouse.

"Timber processing enterprises are one of the key customer groups of TransContainer. While recording the trend of active development of the Russian timber processing industry, we aim to meet this industry’s demand for cargo delivery to the fullest extent possible by developing efficient transportation solutions, including those engaging the north-western and southern routes, without creating an additional load on the Eastern range of the Russian Railways network", - said Alexander Podylov, Vice-President for Commerce of PJSC TransContainer.
